Carie has been an integral member of the leadership team of Arkansas Masters Swimming for over 7 years.
In 2014 as the Leadership team was leaving, Carie threw her name in the hat and began working towards getting involved in the Masters Leadership team. In 2015, she became the General Chair and held that position until the spring of 2020. Duuring her leadership, the Ark. Masters LMSC has held regular meetings with defined goals for events that benefit the ARKM membership.
- She started the Travel fund for Zone and National Team meet participants,
- She started the funding for Certified Masters Coaches’ Training and coordinated in-state training classes,
- She started the funding for the USMS Adult Learn to Swim certification and coordinated the in-state training class options for that certification.
- She coordinated/ran several masters meets and annual member events such as the Labor Day swim in Bentonville.
- For events that she did not personally coordinate, she still travelled to almost every location in our area that held a meet. At these meets, she not only participated, but brought Masters marketing swag to sell or give out.
- She revitalized the current website for Arkansas Swimming and began the Facebook page.
- She was the conduit for getting the historical photos and info put on the website
- She was responsible for getting ARKM a new logo and getting caps, banners, towels, and bags to sport the new logo and market our organization
- She set up an online store on SwimOutlet.com for Arkansas masters to purchase goods containing the new logo. When purchases are made, Arkansas Masters receives monetary credit!
- In 2015, she spent hours researching old results and updating the Arkansas State and Citizen records (which are now kept for all to see on the website)
- She revised the out-dated bylaws and created the current LMSC Policies and Procedures document
- She started the “Swimmer Spotlight” page on the website and in the newsletter to highlight Arkansas members and their accomplishments
- She creates bimonthly newsletters to communicate with Arkansas Masters swimmers
A LOT of Time and Energy to get our LMSC moving forward!
And..Although her General Chair position ended in 2020, she continues her volunteering roles as the Secretary and WebMaster for ARKMS. She also was an integral part of running our recent Freestyle Frenzy Meet.
And…she not only leads and organizes, she swims! Carie currently has:
- 24 State records
- 40 Citizen records
- 10 Top Ten USMS times
Freestyle, Butterfly, and IM are her specialties.
Carie is also:
- USMS Certified Coach Level 1 & Level 2
- USMS Adult Learn To Swim Instructor
