ARKM Swimmer of the Year

We are proud to announce our Arkansas Masters Swimmer of the Year Award for 2019, Scott Halliburton.  Scott has a true passion for the “daily grind” every swimmer must possess from the beginning of a swimmer’s career. He is a role model for swimmers of all ages, showing them how to do the hard work, even when no one is looking. Scott put in a total of 601 miles of swimming last year, averaging 4118 yards over 257 swims.  And for the past 18 years, Scott has completed 100 x 100’s around Thanksgiving!  A truly dedicated swimmer!

In addition to his commitment in the pool, Scott volunteers many hours a month as the registrar for Arkansas Masters Swimming.  His work behind the scenes are efficient and precise, helping the LMSC to run smoothly.  We are truly appreciative to his dedication to our organization.

Scott will receive his Swimmer of the Year award at our annual Hall of Fame Banquet in Little Rock this spring, but if you see him prior to that, give him a big pat on the back.  Congratulations Scott Halliburton!

The Good Old Days

IMG_0156

A big THANK YOU to Carolyn Hyink for her many hours spent scanning and uploading historic photos and newspaper articles from the early days of Arkansas Masters Swimming.  Included in this project are 70 articles that were carefully placed in  scrapbooks during the 1980’s and 90’s.  These scrapbooks were passed on to me, and Carolyn generously volunteered to archive them on our website.  There are a few people who had a lot of press written about them and it would be good to track them down (or their family) and let them know this body of work exists. Please take a look and forward the link below to anyone who might be interested in this body of work.  And moving forward, please forward any newspaper articles that you find regarding Arkansas Masters Swimming.
