Hometown and Current residence: Carl Junction, Mo. is my home town and my current residence although we have lived several places, as my husband is retired from the Air Force after 21 years.
Family and Occupation: My Husband is Derril, and we have been married 34 years. We have 5 children and 3 grandchildren. I am a school nurse at CJ for the K-1 grade level.
Swimming background: My swimming started when I was a little girl and my mom would take me to swim lessons. We would pay .25 cents for each lesson. We learned how to float and dog paddle – basically how to save ourselves in deep water. I loved being in the water, but most of our swimming was done at the river with my mom and dad and 6 siblings.
Favorite event/race: My favorite event/race was last year when I completed my first triathlons! Both were sprint length. They were the” Summer Round up” in Jasper, Mo with an open water swim, and the “Trifest “ in Bentonville, Ark. I enjoyed both of them so much!
Swimming hero: My swimming hero right now is Pat Gallant-Charette, a 68 year old Grandma who is a World record breaker.
Swimming goals: To swim more streamline and faster!
Advice to new masters swimmers: KEEP SWIMMING. DON’T GIVE UP!
Hobbies: My hobbies are riding my bicycle on beautiful days, and loving my grandbabies and family!
Favorite drill/workout: the side drill with one hand at my side and one hand over my head.
Where do you currently swim? I currently swim at MSSU pool with my Masters group In Joplin, Mo.
