The Arkansas Hall of Fame Meet is our signature meet held each year in Little Rock at UALR.  Hope to see you all there on Saturday, May 11th!

All-American Swimmers

Congratulations to these speedy Arkansas Masters swimmers for being recognized as the fastest in the country for their event/age group!  This is truly a great honor!

Byron Shefchik:  200 Breaststroke (LCM)
Doug Martin:  50 Freestyle and 50 Buterfly (SCM, LCM, and SCY!)
Jack Gooding:  100 Butterfly (LCM)

Swimmer Spotlight

 This month we are spotlighting Boo Jennings.   Boo (Gene) Jennings is a life-long Little Rock resident, who recently returned to competitive swimming after a 50 year break!  I have a feeling we will see him at more meets, since he just retired about a week ago!  Read all about his swimming adventures here.IMG_0851

Arkansas Records Broken

The following Citizen records were broken recently:  

Sharon Taylor:  50 Free, 100 Free, 400 Free, 50 Breast, 100 Breast  (LCM)
                                50 Breast, 100 Breast, 200 Breast, 100 IM, and 200 IM (SCY)

Grants for Events

Arkansas Masters Swimming would like to ensure a robust event calendar and effective communication of events to all our members.  Towards that end, we are offering grants up to $100 for events that are held to promote and encourage masters swimming across the state.

Two types of events are eligible for these grants: Sanctioned Events, and Board Approved Events.  Items to be funded could include:

  • Food items
  • Stipends for Officials
  • Promotional or giveaway items
  • Advertising
