Meet Your Fellow Swimmers:
Let’s meet two new swimmers: Bonnie Adams and Randall Mertes from Northwest Arkansas. Bonnie is currently serving as the vice chair for Arkansas Masters, and Randall is the Sanctions Chair. Thanks to both of them for their service to our group.

Summer swimming:
There have been several swimmers competing this summer who we should recognize for breaking either state or citizen records.
Joplin LCM meet: Byron Shefchik (200 Fly and 200 IM)
Little Rock LCM meet: Calvin Schildknecht (200 Free, 400 Free, 800 Free
Jack Gooding (100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Fly)
Marvin Schwartz (200 Free, 400 Free, 800 Free, 200 Back)
Rinaldo Sintjago (200 Free, 50 Free)
Indianapolis, SCY meet: :Doug Martin (50 Free and 50 Fly)

And just in case you missed it….Doug Martin set a WORLD RECORD in the 50 Freestyle at the Little Rock Meet!

Pan Am Masters Championship:
Arkansas was represented these past few days at the Pan Am Masters Championship meet in Orlando, Florida. Carolyn Hyink, Marvin Schwartz, Rinaldo Sintjago, Jack Gooding, Dave Gillanders all swam fast enough to break records and bring home some medals! Nice work! (As I write this, the meet is still in progress, so I will report on all records in the August newsletter)

2018 Summer Pan Am Masters Nationals in Orlando, Florida. Carolyn Hyink, Marvin Schwarts, and Rinaldo SIntjago.

Open Water Practice:
If you want a group to swim open water with, this opportunity is available in Northwest Arkansas: Beaver Lake, Prairie Creek Swim Area. Each Tuesday from 6-7pm. Kayak supported by Chuck Cates and Theresa Cook with Race Sim Saturdays and TriBentonville.
