Hometown and Current residence: Bentonville, AR.
Family and Occupation: I am a wife and a mother of 3 beautiful teenagers,. We also have 2 dogs, 2 cats, a bird, a fish, and 3 turtles. I am the founder and lead instructor for The Joys Of Swimming, specializing in private instruction of all ages, all levels, and all abilities.
Swimming background: I began competitive swimming when I was 9 years old, swimming for the Walmart Swim Club, and Bentonville High School. I was a member of BHS when we won our FIRST state title. I then went on to swim for the Lady Razorbacks on a swimming scholarship.
Favorite event/race: My best event was the 100 back. ** Brag moment… I held the high school state record in that event for over 6 years. However, my favorite event was the 200 IM.
Swimming hero: My Daddy. He was a scholarship swimmer at the University of Oklahoma and participates in Masters Swimming to this day! I still want to be like him when I “grow up”.
Swimming goals: I would like to compete in more Masters meets. I competed this last spring and LOVED it! I am looking forward to more!
Advice to new masters swimmers: DO IT!!! Don’t wait – ask questions as you are doing it. Swimming is a solitary sport – BUT it is so much more fun with friends!
Hobbies: I love everything outside! Most of my free time these days is spent taxing my kiddos to their activities.
Favorite drill/workout: My favorite workout is the one I just completed! 😉
Do you participate in other sports? We are a biking family. I personally have 3 bikes – a road, commuter, and mountain bike. I absolutely love cross training and gaining new skills.
Where do you currently swim? I swim in my backyard pool with a tether – it is so easy to hop in and go when the location is at home. However, I do miss the company. Looking forward to seeing folks when my backyard is not an option. I will be at the Walton Life Fitness Center.
