Hometown and Current residence: I grew up in Columbus Ohio, a 15 minute drive from Ohio State, and graduated in 1963 with B.S. in Physical Therapy. I moved to Centerton two years ago.
Family: My wife Linda and I of 61 years, have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Our daughter Kari was a competitive swimmer, and our daughter Sam and son Jim were competitive cross country skiers.
Occupation: Physical therapist for 50 years and then retired.
Swimming background: I swam in high school and my first year of college, and have been lap swimming most of my life to stay fit and healthy as healthcare was my profession.
Favorite event/race: Freestyle & backstroke
Swimming hero: Due to my generation, attending a Big Ten school, and now age 82, my favorite swimmer was Charlie Hickcox who swam for the Indiana Hoosiers and won 3 gold and 1 silver in the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City.
Swimming goals: To improve efficiency with my strokes and participate in Senior Games as I have participated in Idaho, Wyoming, Iowa and Nebraska (this summer.)
Advice to new masters swimmers: Keep it fun and enjoyable and you are participating in a lifelong sport that will promote your fitness and good health.
