Family: Married to Diane (30 years), daughter Emily 26, son Andrew 24. I’m a Supplier to Walmart.
Swimming background: I started swimming when I was 7 years old. I was an All American swimmer in high school in St. Louis and in college at Missouri. I was ranked first in the nation in 1983 for the 100 fly. I took 7 years off after college and started swimming Masters in my late 20s.
Favorite event/race: 100 and 200 butterfly
Swimming hero: My brother Jim and my son Andrew. Along with all the people I have the privilege of working out with on a daily basis.
Future swimming goals: I like to swim 6 days a week. I went over 1,000,000 yards last year. My goals are to swim some meets and try to get close to last year’s totals.
Advice to new swimmers: Find a group to make yourself accountable and to make it more fun.
Other hobbies or interests: Work and swimming. I’m also on the board for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
Favorite workout: 100 x 100. I’ve done that set for the last 17 years around Thanksgiving
Did/do you participate in other sports?: Water Polo in high school. I played baseball, soccer, basketball and football growing up.
Where do you swim?: Bentonville Community Center at 5:30 am
