2026 Swimmer of the Year – Calvin Schildknecht

We are proud to announce that Calvin Schildknecht has been named the 2026 Arkansas Masters Swimmer of the Year! Calvin is incredibly deserving of this honor. So many thoughtful and heartfelt comments were shared during the nomination process, and here are just a few:

  • For many years, Calvin has led the Arkansas presence at national and local meets, setting countless records along the way.
  • He has served as meet director for the January Masters “First Chance” meet, attracting numerous out-of-state swimmers to compete at UALR. He has been a tremendous ambassador for swimming, for the state of Arkansas, and for the Arkansas Masters program.
  • While his swimming accomplishments are remarkable, his leadership in hosting some of the only Masters meets currently available in Arkansas is equally significant. Offering all three course formats — 50m, 25m (helping populate those records!), and 25yd — provides valuable variety and opportunity for swimmers.
  • Calvin’s leadership of the Dolphins swim team motivates dozens of adolescent and younger swimmers, instilling both a joy for the sport and the discipline of achievement. His presence as an on-deck coach is invaluable.
  • His enthusiasm for swimming is evident in his coordination of the January two-meet weekend, featuring both short course meters and long course venues. These meets consistently draw strong out-of-state participation and frequently produce new state and national records.
  • As a competitor, Calvin is recognized as one of the top national athletes in his age group. He is also almost always part of a relay team, adding to the camaraderie and opportunities for his fellow swimmers.
  • Calvin exemplifies what it means to be a true team player — an accomplished athlete, a dedicated mentor, and a coach who invests deeply in the next generation.

Congratulations Calvin on this well-deserved honor!
